Rowntree Wharf
We have been researching the heritage significance of Rowntree Wharf this week to assist with the production of a Heritage Impact Assessment for development within the building’s setting. We’ve found some fantastic historic photographs and drawings of the site showing just how substantial the original mill complex was. Note the four-storey bridge that connected this former warehouse to Leetham’s flour mill on the northern bank of the Foss, the barges used to transport corn and later cocoa beans for the Rowntrees from Hull docks and the view of the mill from York Minster!
